I don’t have to tell you how strange the weather has been lately. This year, the entire Northern Hemisphere has seen unusual weather patterns, and Arizona is no exception.
Earlier this summer, meteorologists confirmed a tornado touched down on Tucson’s east side. Tucson has seen steady rainfall from the monsoons this summer, while Phoenix has been under an oppressive dome of extreme heat with very little moisture to cool things down.

What Will Winter Be Like in Arizona This Year?
With summer acting with the hot and cold energy of an angry, unpredictable teenager, I shudder to think what winter will bring to Arizona.
Trying to get ahead of things, I took a look at the Old Farmer’s Almanac. Long before we had weather apps in our pocket, they’ve been predicting long-term weather patterns.

This year, Arizona’s winter outlook could be wild. The Almanac predicts our first frost around November 2nd.

With a La Niña weather pattern in full swing, the entire state will likely see a colder-than-usual winter with more precipitation.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, places in Arizona that typically see snow will see a lot more snowfall than usual. Everywhere else in the state should brace for more rain than normal.
According to NOAA (the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), La Niña is a “cold event”, a climate pattern caused by cooler-than-average sea surface temperatures in the central and eastern Pacific Ocean.
