Expelled BJD Leader Sasmita Majhi Arrested For Duping Job Aspirants | Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Mathili police on Friday arrested Zilla Parishad Member Sasmita Majhi, who was recently expelled from the Biju Janata Dal for her involvement in anti-people activities, from Jagatsinghpur in connection with a fraud case.
Sasmita has been accused of impersonating a relative of VK Pandian to dupe job aspirants of lakhs of rupees, according to the reports.
So far, police have arrested three individuals, including Sasmita Majhi, for allegedly duping job aspirants using the name of VK Pandian.
The accused arrested from different parts of the state have been identified as Sasmita Majhi, Ramesh Rout, and another associate. They have been accused of cheating several people by promising them jobs and taking lakhs of rupees from them.
According to sources, Ramesh was earlier arrested from Bhubaneswar three days back in this connection. Ramesh and Sasmita used to introduce themselves as close aides of VK Pandian and promised people jobs in exchange for money. The trio’s network spanned from Kendrapara to Malkangiri, and several cases have been registered against them at the Mathili police station.
The police are investigating the matter further to uncover the extent of their network and the number of people they have duped.
