Nagaland CAWD & Taxes Advisor, Kudecho Khamo today formally launched the third series of the PCE Workbooks on “English Communication 1- AECC” at 2K Hotel Kohima. The book is based on the NEP FYUGP, Nagaland University syllabus for BA first semester and authored by Dr Rukulu Kezo and Dr Ruth Z Hauzel.

Congratulating Cue Academy and authors for bringing this workbook, Khamo firmly believed that “this resource will significantly aid both teachers and students in collaborating effectively in the learning process.” He said, “This workbook represents a significant departure from traditional pedagogical methods, embodying Cue Academy’s philosophy of addressing the distinct needs, strengths and aspirations of each student. It is a testament to the Academy’s commitment to fostering a learning environment that is both inclusive and dynamic.”

In today’s global educational landscape, he said, the necessity for education that extends beyond theoretical knowledge is paramount. “There is a growing demand for practical and experiential learning modes that equip students with tangible skills. Book knowledge, in isolation, does not constitute holistic education. It is the integration of practical skills that renders education complete and truly effective,” Khamo said.

The Advisor maintained that the need for education in the present era has far surpassed mere literacy and content knowledge. “It is evident that preparing students with the skills necessary to face real-world challenges has become critically important,” he said.

Khamo said that the National Policy on Education 2020 also underscores the importance of holistic education, which extends beyond textbook knowledge. It emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and life skills alongside academics. This comprehensive approach aims to equip graduates for a dynamic and ever-evolving job market.

Khamo said that the education system in Nagaland is also navigating towards this holistic vision. Achieving quality and excellence in education requires concerted efforts on multiple fronts, he said adding “While policy changes are essential, other factors must also come into play to realize the full potential of these policies.”

“Teacher’s play a pivotal role in this transformation. There was a time when grades and marks were paramount, but now the emphasis is shifting towards skill development,” he said. In today’s world, a degree without accompanying skills is insufficient, he said.

Despite policy advancements, true change can only occur if the teaching-learning environment within classrooms evolves, Khamo said. “In this context, I am extremely happy to see that Cue Academy has taken the initiative to produce person-centered workbooks aimed at transforming undergraduate classrooms in Nagaland,” he said adding “This workbook on English communication is the third in the series of person-centered workbooks that Cue Academy has developed, all with the goal of shifting classrooms from traditional lecture-based and note-taking methods to activity-based, vibrant learning environments where students actively participate in the learning process.

Earlier, Dr Lanusangla Tzudir, Editor, Heritage Publishing House also spoke while introduction of the authors was made by Dr Adenuo Shirat Luikham, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Don Bosco College, Kohima. The programme was led by Dr Vizovono Elizabeth, Independent Researcher and freelance editor while vote of thanks was proposed by Zhokhoto Puro, Managing Director, CUE Academy, Kohima.
