Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 31 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday highlighted the key role e-commerce platforms play in boosting Uttar Pradesh’s packaging and export capabilities, aligning with the Centre’s One District One Product (ODOP) scheme.

“We started to promote the products with design, packaging and even exports. But we got even more of a boost when Flipkart joined with us as an e-commerce platform, that is when we saw our products getting popular not only in the country but the world over,” said Yogi Adityanath while virtually inaugurating Flipkart warehouses in Unnao and Varanasi at Lok Bhavan Auditorium.

The Chief Minister further explained that the popularity of products soared when the e-commerce platform Flipkart joined with them. The CM explained that before it was difficult for small businesses to promote and sell their products in various markets without e-commerce.

“It was quite difficult for small businesses to sell their products in various markets, it was almost impossible. To continue the mission of promoting products from various districts, we have these warehouses from Flipkart”, he added.

Yogi Adityanath also took to X to congratulate Flipkart and other MSMEs on the partnerships, the post read, “Today from Lucknow, inaugurated the warehouses of @Flipkart located in Unnao and Varanasi through virtual medium. There are immense possibilities in the field of warehousing and logistics in the state, which will create new employment opportunities. Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all of you!”The Chief Minister further said that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have been a cornerstone of the state’s economy for centuries.

“I thank everyone who could be part of the program. We all know the base for MSMEs was needed in the state for a long time. However, due to time constraints, techniques, design, and packaging, without an MSME and marketing map for the state, and no other scheme being made, this industry was choked out for a few years. There was no clear solution for this before”, he said in the virtual meeting.

“When we made the state government in 2017, and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we started mapping MSMEs in the state, and we started promoting it under the name of one district one product,” the Chief Minister added.

Explaining how the One District One Product Scheme was meant to promote local products across the state, he said, “I had told the officers then that to promote our culture and industry we need to give a platform which can engage the common people. So we started promoting these products under the One District One Product Scheme.” (ANI)
