Delhi to Meerut in less than a hour via RRTS: Namo Bharat set to transform interstate travel – Infrastructure News

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, project by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), is set to revolutionise inter state travel with its promise of connecting Delhi and Meerut in under an hour. This 82.15 km semi-high-speed rail corridor features both elevated and underground sections and includes 22 stations.

Currently, the operational stretch of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is up to 42 km, linking eight stations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South in Meerut. The route runs parallel to National Highway 24 and intersects with the Delhi Metro at key stations such as Nizamuddin/Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, and Ghaziabad.

Aiming to ensure balanced and sustainable urban development across the National Capital Region (NCR), the RRTS will enhance connectivity between Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS, commonly referred to as Rapid Rail or Namo Bharat, is one of three rapid rail corridors being developed under the first phase of the RapidX initiative. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS is being developed with an investment exceeding Rs 30,000 crore.

Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS: Operational stations 

Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai (EPE), Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North and Meerut South. The 42 kms distance between the eight operational stations takes around an hour by road, which can be covered in just 30 minutes with RRTS.

For traveling on the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor, passengers have several convenient options for booking tickets:

• Rapidx Connect App: Use the app on your smartphone for digital ticketing.
• NCMC-Compliant Cards: Purchase tickets using these cards at station ticket counters.
• Credit/Debit/Prepaid Cards & Cash: Obtain tickets from ticket vending machines (TVMs) located at various stations.
• Paper QR Code Tickets: Buy journey tickets with a paper QR code directly from TVMs or station ticket counters.
• Ticket vending machines: Ticket vending machines are available at several stations, including Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Dubai and other RRTS stations providing easy access for passengers.

Additionally, travelers are allowed to bring luggage with a maximum weight of 25 kg. The luggage must adhere to size restrictions of 80 cm in length, 50 cm in width, and 30 cm in height, making it suitable for personal baggage.
