Cuttack: Woman Rescued From Mahanadi River, Pronounced Dead | Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a woman rescued by fishermen from the Mahanadi River was declared dead by doctors upon arrival at the hospital on Sunday.

According to reports, the deceased woman, identified as Kamini Swain of Arilo village, Cuttack, jumped into the Mahanadi river from the top of the Jobra bridge, leaving behind her bag and mobile phone.

After learning about the incident, the Chauliaganj police and firefighters arrived at the spot and launched a rescue operation. Meanwhile, some fishermen rescued Swain from the river.

Upon being rescued, Swain was immediately rushed to SCB Hospital, Cuttack, where she was pronounced dead by the doctors.

Police officials have initiated an investigation into the matter. The exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.

Notably, in the last 5 days, 5 persons have attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the river in the Cuttack district.
