DIBRUGARH, Aug 28: Kurung Kumey district of Arunachal Pradesh was the worst hit district in the entire state due to heavy rains, massive landslides and mudslides.

Several roads, culverts and RCC bridges were washed out due to nature’s fury.

A major bridge over the Kurung bridge was washed away due to the heavy impact of floods on June 30, thereby cutting off road communication to the district with the rest of the world.

At this point of time despite challenges on various fronts including inclement weather, the restoration work began under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Vishaka Yadav.

Multiple agencies like the NHIDCL, RWD, BRO, DDMO, district administration and private contractors firms were engaged in the restoration work.

At this point of time Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended his helping hand by releasing adequate funds for early restoration of various restoration work in the district.

On Wednesday, due to all these efforts and assistance extended by the local public, the bridge was re-opened, bringing smiles back to people of the district.

Such a important bridge – since it is strategically important for movement of troops and other para military forces to the forward posts of the LAC – getting completed with 58 days is a record in the entire state.
