CRPF jawan from Bihar allegedly pushes wife into Gandak river, claims she fell while taking selfie
The woman’s family version is that on Sunday night, Manish took Gudiya to the Bangra bridge under the pretense of a stroll and pushed her into the river. A complaint has been lodged against the CRPF jawan.

New Delhi: A CRPF jawan in Bihar’s Gopalganj district allegedly took his wife to Bangra bridge and pushed her into the Gandak river over dowry demands. He then came back and told his in-laws that she fell into the river while taking a selfie. The incident which occurred in the Baikunthpur police station limits has sent shockwaves in the area with many questioning the circumstances leading to the incident.
Woman constantly harassed by in-laws over dowry
The missing woman has been identified as Gudiya Kumari, the wife of Manish Kumar Singh from Sapha village in the Gopalganj district. The couple got married in 2019. According to reports in the vernacular media, the missing woman’s brother has alleged that his sister was constantly harassed by her in-laws over dowry demands. She was assaulted on the day of Raksha Bandhan too.
“My sister was thrown from the Bangra Ghat bridge at 8pm. After 9pm, the sister of the woman’s husband called my younger brother and said that while taking selfies your sister fell into the river,” said the woman’s elder brother while talking to a local news channel.
NDRF, local police searching for body
The woman’s family version is that on Sunday night, Manish took Gudiya to the Bangra bridge under the pretense of a stroll and pushed her into the river. A complaint has been lodged against the CRPF jawan.
On receiving the information, Gudiya’s family rushed to the area and began searching for her. The local police, along with an NDRF also launched a search operation in the river to locate the missing woman. The search operation is ongoing, but the woman’s body has not yet been recovered.
Circle Officer Gautam Singh, who is overseeing the operation, confirmed that the NDRF team is actively involved in the search. The police are also investigating the case following a complaint lodged by Gudiya’s family. Police are yet to arrest anyone in the case.
