Bhubaneswar: A couple was found dead with their throat slit at Dunguru village under R Udayagiri police limits in Gajapati district, on Tuesday night.
According to sources, Chaitanya Mandal and his wife Ijamayi Mandal were killed by unidentified miscreants while they were sleeping in their hut on a hilltop.
According to sources, Chaitanya was a self-proclaimed faith healer who used to treat patients in the village. However, some villagers had suspicions about his practices, which might have led to the brutal murder.
Miscreants reportedly killed Chaitanya and his wife by slitting their throats in the dead of the night and fled. On a tip-off, police reached the spot and began investigating the matter. The couple’s bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, police also launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants and ascertain the motive behind the murder.
