Chennai: YouTuber Abhishek Rafi aka ‘Biriyani Man’ arrested for defamatory video against women

Chennai: Abhishek Rafi, also known as Biryani Man, a YouTuber was arrested by Cyber Crime Police for allegedly releasing a video that defamed and harassed women.He faces charges under sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, IT Act, Indecent representation of women Act 1986 and The Sexual Harassment of Women Act, 2013, the Chennai Cyber Crime Police said.

YouTuber Abhishek, popularly known as Biryani Man, attempted suicide with a rope yesterday while speaking live on his YouTube channel. Seeing this, his friends reportedly contacted him and stopped him from attempting suicide. After this incident, it was said that the police would take strict action against Abhishek as he attempted suicide live on YouTube.

He was arrested under sections of the Prevention of Violence against Women Act based on a complaint filed by a woman. The YouTuber was arrested by St Thomas Mount Cyber Crime Police under sections including the Prevention of Violence against Women Act based on a complaint filed by a woman. He has been produced before the court immediate after the arrest and sent to judicial custody.
