Several parts of Tamil Nadu are likely to get light to moderate rains in the next 24 hours.

Chennai: Parts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai witnessed a rainy night yesterday, with some places like Cuddalore receiving heavy rainfall till the morning. Weather blogger, Srikanth of COMK in his latest update has said that most parts of North Tamil Nadu including Chennai will see widespread thunderstorms with heavy rainfall today and the scenario will continue till mid-August.

Heavy rain and lightning are expected in most parts of Chennai and the southern suburbs

“Parts of Chennai under the nse spell of rins. Nearly 6 cm an hour rainfall rate at Anna Nagar. These thunderstorms will continue to give rain until 8 AM. Please plan accordingly. Thanks to #ChennaiRains, today’s cycling routine must be missed. Please note unlike Northeast Monsoon time the rains will clear off during the morning. Thunderstorms will return later in the evening/night once the skies clear off, Srikanth of COMK said.

More rains for Chennai

While it is raining in a few places in Tamil Nadu, it has been raining continuously since yesterday evening in Chennai. the Meteorological Department has forecasted that rain will continue till 10 am today in various areas including Alandur, Arakkonam, Gumpidipoondi, and Kanchipuram.

The Regional Metrological cnetre forecasted that Chennai, Thiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, and Thiruvannamalai to receive and it will continue for the next 3 hours in 17 districts including Cuddalore and Kallakurichi. Similarly, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Salem, Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Dharmapuri, Nagapattinam, Tanjore, Tiruvarur and Mayiladuthurai districts will also get widespread rains in the 24 hours.
