Chennai: The most-awaited Chennai-Mysuru high-speed rail corridor project has gained pace, as a consultative meeting was held in Kolar as a part of land acquisition. The 463-km corridor running through three states – Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu is designed for trains that could run at a speed of 350 kmph. A total of 30km tunnel segments including 2.5 km in Chennai, 11.8 km in Chittoor and 2km in Bengaluru rural and 14 km in Bengaluru city is planned. In Tamil Nadu the corridor is expected to have two stations Poonamallee and Chennai.

Chennai-Mysuru high-speed rail project details

With a maximum speed of 350 kmph, the train is expected to complete the Chennai to Mysuru journey in 2 hours and 25 minutes while other trains currently takes six hours and 30 minutes to cover the distance. The train will pass through 9 stations via Chennai, Poonamalle, Arakkonam, Chittoor, Bangarapet, Bengaluru, Chennapatna, Mandya, and Mysuru. This bullet train will be brought near the expressway road currently being built to connect Chennai to Bangaluru, according to officials.

This bullet train station is going to be constructed between Raja Muthiah Road-Central Railway Station in Chennai.

Ahamadabad– Mumbai high speed Bullet Train

Menawhile, Ahamadabad– Mumbai high speed Bullet Train project, marks India’s foray into high-speed rail promising to revolutionize travel between the two big cities. Construction was initially expected to begin in April 2020, and the project was expected to be completed by December 2023. Due to delays in land acquisition in Maharashtra, the completion date of the entire corridor is yet to be finalised. However, 50 km (31 miles) of the 352 km stretch through Gujarat will be opened in 2026 as the first phase.

The project will be fully inaugurated by 2027, from Surat to Bilimora, and the first phase will be implemented in August 2026, according to the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).
