Charles Schwab, Comcast keen to set up development centers in Hyderabad

Charles Schwab, a leading financial services firm, has chosen Hyderabad as the prospective location for its first Technology Development Centre in India, the Telangana government said here on Thursday.

The decision came following fruitful discussions between Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, state IT Minister D Sridhar Babu and senior Schwab executives Dennis Howard, Rama Bokka and others at Charles Schwab’s world headquarters in Dallas, USA.

Revanth Reddy is currently on a visit to the US to seek investments into the state.

CM Revanth Reddy and the IT Minister have “committed to guiding Schwab through all necessary formalities for establishing their presence in Hyderabad, ensuring swift access to the necessary talent for a rapid ramp-up,” an official release said.

Comcast’s GCC in Hyderabad:

Comcast, part of Universal Studios, is keen to establish a Global Capability Centre here, which will focus on cutting-edge product development and solutions in the unified communications domain, significantly enhancing its managed solutions and connectivity portfolio and capabilities.

A press release from Telangana IT Minister D Sridhar Babu’s office said Comcast’s presence here strategically positions the city to attract Universal Studios, its parent company, which will likely boost Tollywood’s global prominence by capitalising on its current status as the world’s most prolific film industry in terms of annual movie production.

CM Revanth Reddy meets World Bank Prez:

Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy on Wednesday met World Bank President Ajay Banga in the US and held discussions, and the latter would partner with the state on several fronts and projects “to make a positive, ambitious and impactful outcome on the lives of over four crore people.”

The potential areas for partnership being outlined through explorations and deliberations would include initiatives on skills development, urban rejuvenation and reimagination, Net Zero developments, citizens’ healthcare, diagnostics and electronic records, among others, an official release said on Wednesday.
