Nadda to visit state on August 24

Panaji: Heralding consternations for some ministers ahead of the planned  reshuffle of the Pramod Sawant cabinet, BP’s national general secretary Vinod Tawde and Goa desk-incharge Ashis Sood arrived in Goa on Wednesday, and are expected to hold discussions with senior party leaders.

Moreover BJP’s national president and Union Health Minister JP Nadda will also arrive in Goa on August 24 to attend a party function. He will hold a meeting with ruling MLAs and ministers during his visit.  It is understood that Tawde and Sood are also likely to meet party legislators and cabinet ministers to sound them out on cabinet reshuffle.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has already hinted at cabinet reshuffle as the performance of some ministers is said to be not up to the mark.

The BJP government was exposed on several issues during the recent   session of the state legislative assembly. Also, the lack of coordination within the ruling dispensation was also seen in the House.

Considering all these factors, Sawant has made up his mind to drop some ministers and include new faces.

Sources said the party leadership and the Chief Minister would identify the ministers who may be dropped, and the MLAs who could be accommodated in the cabinet.

At least three ministers could be dropped from the cabinet to make way for some senior legislators, the sources disclosed.

It was also informed that this could be the formal exercise of analysing the performance of the cabinet ministers in the middle of the tenure.

Nadda will attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the state BJP Bhavan at Merces on August 24.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, party’s central leaders Tawde and Sood, state BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade and other senior party leaders addressed a meeting on a BJP membership drive at Institute Menezes Braganza.

Earlier in the day, Tawde and Sood called on Sawant in the presence of Tanavade at the Chief Minister’s residence and discussed various issues pertaining to party organisation and governance.
