The period of fierce violence in Manipur may have stopped, but the tense situation still persists. Voices are being raised against Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and the opposition has been fighting against him for a long time. There is a demand for his removal. Meanwhile, 7 MLAs of BJP have demanded the formation of a commission to investigate against CM Biren Singh. A total of 10 Kuki MLAs have demanded an investigation, out of which 7 are from the ruling party BJP. These people say that a commission should be formed to investigate the incidents of violence. If N. Biren Singh is found guilty in this, action should be taken against him.

These MLAs issued a joint statement saying that the role of CM Biren Singh was suspicious. He was given permission to massacre the Kuki community. Actually, Biren Singh belongs to the Meitei community. Last year, violence broke out between the Meitei and Kuki communities. These MLAs have also released an audiotape in the name of Manipur Tapes. These people said that the CM had given freedom to the unruly elements of the Meitei community with his attitude. The MLAs said that the CM had given permission for violence. Not only this, these MLAs said that when Home Minister Amit Shah came to Manipur, he reprimanded CM Biren Singh for not using bombs on the public.

Yet, as soon as Amit Shah left, the CM bombarded the public in the same way. These MLAs say that about 5000 weapons have been looted from the police force across the state, but no arrest has been made in this case. These looted weapons were used to incite violence. These people said that CM Biren Singh himself can be heard saying that he said that 300 Kukis have been killed. They can abuse me, but the Meitei will not do so. In this way, with 7 MLAs of BJP coming out against the Chief Minister, the party’s problems have increased and there is also pressure on the CM to take action.

The state government has called the tape released on August 7 fake. The government said that this tape is fake and rumours are being spread through it. A case has been registered in this matter and action will be taken against those who are involved in spreading it.
