SRINAGAR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Ravinder Raina has confirmed that the BJP will not enter into any pre-poll alliances in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, discussions are underway with 8 to 10 independent candidates from the Kashmir Valley for potential joint election efforts. Raina stated that the BJP is prepared for the upcoming Assembly elections and will soon release its first list of candidates. He emphasized that the party plans to contest the majority of seats and aims for a decisive victory in the region.

Raina also highlighted the recent inclusion of former minister Choudhary Zulfikar Ali into the BJP, describing him as a significant asset due to his influence in the Rajouri-Poonch area. In response to former chief minister Omar Abdullah’s comments on Article 370, Raina suggested that Abdullah’s remarks reflect his party’s diminishing influence in Jammu and Kashmir.

Abdullah had stated that the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly would pass a resolution against the revocation of Article 370 as one of its initial actions post-elections.
