The Bihar Police headquarters has declared a vigilance alert across the state, informed by the current unrest in Bangladesh. The public has been urged to report any suspicious activities or items directly to the Superintendent of Police or relevant district authorities, as highlighted in the issued notice.

Toll-free numbers 14432 and 112 have been provided for public assistance. Earlier in the day, the External Affairs Minister briefed an all-party meeting about the situation in Bangladesh, informing members that Sheikh Hasina has relocated to India, with India committing full support to the Bangladeshi leader.

The minister mentioned that Sheikh Hasina is currently in India and the government aims to give her space to decide her future. In a statement via X, Jaishankar said, ‘Briefed an all-party meeting in Parliament today about the ongoing developments in Bangladesh. Appreciate the unanimous support extended.’

During the meeting, the minister notified the leaders about the central government’s ongoing communication with the Bangladesh Army, emphasizing the evolving nature of the situation. Notably, out of the 20,000 Indian nationals in Bangladesh, 8,000 have returned. The Indian government is in constant touch with its nationals, while the High Commission remains operational.

Sources from the meeting underscored the focus on minority protection. The Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, asked about India’s strategic approach, both long-term and short-term. The government replied that they are continuously monitoring the situation, which is still developing.
