The Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Ltd (K-RIDE) has announced a tender for Corridor-1A of the Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project, spanning from Bengaluru railway station to Yelahanka railway station. This marks a significant milestone for the much-anticipated project, aimed at improving urban connectivity.

Corridor-1A Specifications

The tender for Corridor-1A is valued at Rs 1,422 crore, according to K-RIDE officials. The project includes the construction of stations, formation works for both at-grade and elevated sections, covering a total distance of 17.63 kilometers. Specifically, the tender package involves the design and construction of an elevated viaduct stretching 14.213 kilometers and an at-grade formation of 3.417 kilometers. It also includes the construction of seven station buildings and a Railway Over Bridge.

For the first time, K-RIDE will award the entire contract to a single party, rather than breaking it into smaller tenders, as was the practice in previous projects. This decision stems from lessons learned during the ongoing works of the Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project (BSRP) in Corridor-2 and Corridor-4.

This step is expected to significantly enhance travel convenience for passengers.
