Assam: Post-mortem reports reveal blunt force injuries on Hmar victims
Guwahati, Aug 9: The post-mortem and inquest reports of the three deceased Hmar persons whom police claimed to be militants, had injuries caused by blunt force.
The deceased has been identified as- Lallungawi Hmar, Lalbikung Hmar and K Joshua Lalringsang.
Police had claimed that these militants were killed in crossfire on July 16.
The post-mortem report by Silchar Medical College and Hospital says that the body of Lallungawi “was found naked.”

The ‘final opinion regarding the cause of death’ states that Lallungawi’s death was “instantaneous following injuries sustained in the thorax caused by bullet fired from rifled firearm” and his body also had injury “caused by blunt force impact.”
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had stated in X, “In an early morning operation, @cacharpolice killed 3 Hmar militants from Assam and neighbouring Manipur. Police also seized 2 AK rifles, 1 other rifle and 1 pistol.”
On July 16, the Cachar Police had arrested three Hmar youths with machetes from Dhalai Ganganagar in Cachar. Later at night, a team of Cachar Police led by Superintendent of Police Nomal Mahatta took the three arrested militants for an operation in Bhuban Pahar area in the Assam-Mizoram border.
