Itanagar, July 24: In a bid to enhance security, Home Minister Mama Natung announced the installation of AI-based CCTV cameras at 22 check gates across the state.

The move aims to prevent the entry of undesirable elements and restricted items through these critical points at the inter-state boundary.

All 30 check gates are currently under strict supervision to deter undesirable social elements and drug trafficking.

The government has also sanctioned 3,000 police personnel posts to address manpower shortages.

The Dirak check gate in Namsai district, operational since 1989, has adequate infrastructure, including three sentry posts and CCTV cameras.

Infrastructure upgrades at the Pumao Circle police station in Longding district are delayed due to land availability issues, but the government is reviewing a proposal for development.

The state government is committed to public safety and proper infrastructure at these key entry points.
