Armed Forces Festival at Lucknow Cantonment Showcases India’s Military Might – Defence News
The Armed Forces Festival, organized by Surya Command at Lucknow Cantonment, commenced with great enthusiasm on September 3, 2024, at Surya Khel Parisar. The three-day event, running from September 3 to 5, 2024, was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath. The inauguration ceremony was attended by thousands, including students, NCC cadets, and citizens from across Lucknow, reflecting the city’s strong support for the Armed Forces.
Over 8,000 attendees of all ages were treated to an exhibition of military equipment, highlighting India’s commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat. The exhibition featured advanced military technology, such as the T-90 Main Battle Tank, K-9 Vajra self-propelled artillery gun, Weapon Locating Radar (WLR) Swathi, Sarvatra Bridge System, and models of the ALH and LCH Prachand helicopters. Live demonstrations, including para drops, combat simulations by Special Forces, helicopter troop extractions, and displays of para motors and microlight flying, captivated the audience.
The Indian Navy’s band added a ceremonial flair with martial tunes, while the Naval Pavilion showcased three-dimensional naval capabilities and recent innovations. Stalls exhibited naval history, models of ships and submarines, diving equipment, and career opportunities. The Indian Air Force’s flypast by Jaguar Fighter Aircrafts thrilled young spectators, and their stalls featured interactive exhibits and flight simulators, drawing significant interest from the younger generation.

Informative counters provided valuable resources for veterans, while the Zonal Recruiting Organization offered insights into career opportunities in the military. Addressing the audience, the Chief Minister praised the Armed Forces and urged students and NCC cadets to draw inspiration from their dedication and bravery.
Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, GOC-in-C, Central Command, presented a memento to the Chief Minister, who later toured the various exhibits, acknowledging the remarkable efforts of all three services in organizing the event.
