What’s the story

Adani Group‘s Ambuja Cement has announced a significant investment of ₹1,600 crore for a new cement grinding unit in Warisaliganj, Bihar.

This marks the company’s inaugural venture into the state and represents the largest investment by any cement industry player in Bihar.

The facility is designed to produce six million tons per annum (MTPA), promising to stimulate the local economy and generate numerous job opportunities.

Project implementation

The project will be executed in three phases, with the initial phase of 2.4 MTPA set to be operational by December 2025 following an investment of ₹1,100 crore.

The company has made sufficient provisions for future expansion at a reduced capital expenditure (capex).

The new unit will be situated in Mosama village, Tehsil Warisaliganj, District Nawada, Bihar – a location well-connected by road and rail.

Ambuja Cement’s vision and regional impact

The latest project aligns with Ambuja Cement’s vision of contributing to India’s economic growth while ensuring environmental sustainability.

It is expected to have a transformative impact on the region by providing direct and indirect employment opportunities and supporting Bihar‘s growing infrastructure needs.

The project aims to contribute around ₹250 crore per year to the state’s fiscal revenue, and create 250 direct jobs along with 1,000 indirect jobs.

Bihar CM and Adani Group MD’s statements on the project

At a foundation stone-laying ceremony hosted by the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his enthusiasm for the project.

“This investment by the Adani Group is a testament to Bihar’s growth potential and our commitment to fostering sustainable development for the people of Bihar,” he said.

Pranav Adani, Managing Director (Agro, Oil & Gas) and Director, Adani Enterprises Limited, stated that “this investment aligns with the State Government’s development programs and our growth plans.”
