AKM urges revocation of SRD notification by Nagaland DoHFW

Mokokchung, August 24 (MExN): The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has urged to the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare (DoHFW), Nagaland, to revoke its notification for the Special Recruitment Drive (SRD) for 280 posts. It also demanded the immediate requisition of 329 posts in the department to the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) or the Nagaland State Selection Board (NSSB).

The AKM stated this in a letter to the Principal Director, DoHFW, while reiterating its utmost support for the Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) and the Nagaland Medical Students Association’s (NMSA) demands on the issue.

In the letter, the AKM affirmed the established norms for recruitment through the NPSC and Combined Technical Services Examination (CTSE) for the vacant posts and advocated for free and fair competition for all qualified aspirants. Accordingly, it demanded a sensible analysis of the demands put forward by the CTAN.

It also conveyed its firm solidarity with the NMSA and urged the State Government to maintain the status quo and recruit the vacant posts through the NPSC-CTSE, ensuring equal opportunity for all eligible candidates by upholding a free, fair, and transparent recruitment process.

Open recruitment based on the laid-down rules and norms by the department would be a more just solution and would benefit all aspirants, the AKM said. In this connection, the AKM letter, appended by its President Lanutoshi Aier and General Secretary Satemmongba, urged for the “immediate intervention” of the Principal Director on the issue and to explore the laid-down norms.

It must be noted a Government order dated August 20 announced the administrative approval to conduct a written exam and viva voce for the “one-time dispensation of the Special Recruitment Drive” for specific categories (280 posts). This was reportedly approved by the State Cabinet on August 7.

Hence, the DoHFW was directed to conduct the written exam on August 26, followed by the viva voce on August 27 and 28. “Necessary arrangements may be made for the conduct of the exam in a free and fair manner at the earliest,” it added.

Following this, the CTAN, the Nursing Aspirants of Nagaland, and the NMSA, among others, have demanded the cancellation of the proposed SRD and the conduct of an open recruitment test via the NPSC or NSSB.
