Air India Express expands domestic network with six new flights

Air India Express has expanded its domestic network with six new daily flights connecting major Indian metros like Chennai, Kolkatta and Guwahati. Of these, five routes are new to the airline’s expanding network.

Three new flights from Chennai

  • Chennai-Bhubaneshwar
  • Chennai-Bagdogra
  • Chennai- Thiruvananthapuram

The airline previously served on the Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram route with twice weekly flights. But eyeing the rising demand on the route, the airline has come up with a third daily service, bringing the total to nine flights a week.

Two new routes from Kolatta

  • Kolkatta-Varanasi
  • Kolkatta-Guwahati

Additionally, a new route connecting Guwahati to Jaipur has also been introduced.

With these new routes, the airline plans to give more options to domestic passengers for planning swifty and point-to-point itineraries across India. The airline offers direct flights to more destinations for people to explore different parts of the country with convenience and ease.

Meanwhile the airline will also commence direct flights connecting Thiruvananthapuram to Riyadh from September 9, 2024. The passengers were demanding this direct route since last few years. These flights have a huge passenger demand from Indian residents in Riyadh planning to return to Kerela for Onam.
About a month back the airline started two new routes, connecting Mumbai to Kuwait and Mangaluru. At around the same time the airline also inducted its 75th aircraft – B737. Over the past 11 months the airline had added over 26 new B737-8 aircraft and planned robust network expansion.

The airline is planning to increase the number of domestic and international destinations on its network as it aims to reach a total of 50 destinations soon.
Air India Express operates over 380 daily flights connecting 32 domestic and 15 international airports. The airline has a fleet of 82 aircraft, including 54 Boeing 737s and 28 Airbus A320s.
