The body of a 34-year-old doctor who had died by suicide in Delhi on Sunday was brought to Rajkot by his family on Monday.
Dr Raj Ghonya was working as a neurosurgeon in the trauma centre at Delhi’s AIIMS hospital for last seven years. He had briefly gone to the US for higher studies and had returned from there just 15 days back. As per case details, Raj’s wife was in Rajkot for Rakshabandhan celebrations. When she could not contact him, she called up their neighbour Dr Akanksha who went to their place but did not get any response. The police came and found him unconscious in the house. He was taken to the AIIMS hospital where he was declared dead. In his suicide note, found by the police, Raj has not named anyone. He is suspected to have died of drug overdose.
Raj’s father Mansukhbhai Ghonya is an employee of Doordarshan in Rajkot.
