Ahmedabad: An eatery in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad was sealed after a man found caterpillar in a meal ordered from the food joint. The man ordered the food from Purohit Restaurant through an online food delivery app.

According to reports, the customer, a resident of Kankaria, filed a complaint against the restaurant with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) health department after caterpillar was found in his meal. Following his complaint, a team from the health department conducted a thorough inspection of Purohit Restaurant kitchen and premises in Kankaria.

During the inspection, it was found that the eatery was not adhering to mandatory pest control measures in the kitchen, as stipulated by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) rules. A repair work was also going on at the restaurant, raising further questions about the overall hygiene standards maintained by it. Taking cognizance of the complaint, authorities sealed the restaurant.

Lately, several similar incidents have come to light where people have complained of finding bizarre things like dead mice, cockroaches, finger, and even a frog in their food items.
