Over the past eight years, Abir India, a charitable trust that brings together artists and art connoisseurs, has been moving ahead on a journey of learning and growth. Starting with no expectations, they have now amassed over 8,000 artist profiles; they’ve conferred 72 awards and exhibited the artworks of 900 artists, receiving immense support from the art community along the way.
According to founder-curator Ruby Jagrut, “We have tirelessly reached out to more than 700 pin codes and this achievement is incredibly humbling for us.”
Esteemed artists such as Manu and Madhvi Parekh, Amit Ambalal, Ravindra Reddy, Seema Kohli, Subodh Kerkar, Manjunath Kamath, GR Iranna, Muzaffar Ali and many others have generously given them their time and support.
And for this year’s edition — the eighth — of Abir India, the trust has artists Mithu Sen, Manish Pushkale, Jagannath Panda, Gigi Scaria and Veer Munshi as jurors who bring dynamic perspectives to the jury process from different parts of India.
“We are excited to select the 10 winners of this year’s competition and are thrilled to see the entries pouring in. The deadline for this year’s call for entries is July 30.
To submit your artworks, please log into abirindia.org and follow the size and other criteria guidelines. The first jury review of the artworks will take place around the second week of August,” concluded Ruby.
