SRINAGAR: Following a rise in suicide incidents, the district administration has announced plans to revive a mental health helpline in Srinagar.

This initiative, first launched several years ago, is being revived to provide crucial support and awareness for those struggling with mental health issues.

District Magistrate Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat said they are going to revive a helpline number for people who have issues related to mental health.

“Some years back, a helpline number was started and had good traffic, but later it could not sustain. Now, we are going to revive it for the people who need awareness and support regarding mental health,” he said.

He said that mental health experts and psychiatrists will be available at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), located at HMT Srinagar.

“Not only parents but the rest of society too should move together and not let a young boy or girl reach a level where they decide to end their life,” the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar added—(KNO)
