Dir Agri urges farmers to adopt diversification of crops – Kashmir Reader

SRINAGAR: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal on Tuesday undertook an extensive tour of district Ganderbal to take stock of the agriculture scenario in the district.
During the visit, the Director inspected the agriculture crop fields viz. paddy fields, vegetable fields in many areas including at Chountwaliwar, Watlar, Lar, Wayil and Nunar of the district and held interactions with the concerned farmers.
Director also visited Kisan Khidmat Ghars (KKG) at many places in the district. Highlighting the importance of KKG, the Director said this will ensure all the facilities to the farmers at their doorsteps. He asked farmers for diversification of crops so that they could earn round the year.
On his visit to ‘Sagg eco village’ Watlar Ganderbal, Director held an exchange of thoughts with the farmers. He asked concerned farmers to avail benefits from the department’s marketing initiatives for their unique produce. He assured the concerned farmers of technical guidance in their future endeavours also.
Earlier Director Agriculture visited some HADP works and took feedback from the concerned farmers about the said works. He also chaired a meeting of officers of district Ganderbal and reviewed the progress under different centrally sponsored schemes and Holistic Agriculture Development Programme.
Chief Agriculture Officer Ganderbal, Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah; District Agriculture Officer, Sub-divisional Agriculture Officer and other officers were present on the occasion.
