New Delhi: Stones were pelted at RSS worker Arvind Vaishya’s funeral procession in Mumbai on Tuesday. Several mourners as well as police officers were severely injured in the incident. The huge funeral procession of Arvind Vaishya was heading towards the Hindu crematorium in Dharavi when stones were hurled.

Additional police force was deployed in the area ahead of the funeral procession. According to reports, people were shouting slogans while walking in the procession. Suddenly, some youths threw stones at the crowd. As soon as the stones were hurled, the crowd ran towards the youths but the police was alert and controlled the situation. After the incident, the situation in Dharavi became tense and the police somehow pacified the people.
Meanwhile, a right-wing group alleged that amid the stone-pelting on the funeral procession on Tuesday, the police, instead of targeting the miscreants, tried to control those in the procession with batons. It said that subsequently, there was more stone-pelting and vandalism of shops in the Dharavi area. The last rites of the late Arvind Vaishya were performed under police protection.
How was RSS worker Arvind Vaishya murdered?
On Sunday, some youths of the Muslim community in Dharavi murdered RSS worker Arvind Vaishya in front of the police, after which the atmosphere started deteriorating. Tension mounted in the area. The police filed a legal complaint against the accused Niyaz Sheikh (Allu) and Arif at Dharavi police station.
The deceased Arvind used to work at a medical shop. The incident took place around 7 pm on Sunday. It is being said that Allu, Arif, Shubham and Sher Ali had a fight with Siddhesh over some issue. Allu and his associates started beating Siddhesh and his father. Arvind reached there to intervene and calm the warring parties. Allu and his associates beat up Arvind too.
Arvind went to Dharavi police station to lodge a complaint of assault. The police inspector on duty sent two constables along with Arvind to the spot. Arvind was threatened to withdraw the case. Arvind paid no heed to the threat. He was going with the policemen when suddenly Allu, Arif, Saddam, Jumman, Sher Ali and Shubham attacked him. The attackers stabbed Arvind’s chest with a sword. The police ran and caught Allu, but the rest of the attackers escaped. Injured Arvind was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
