As a result of the accident, the routes of about 16 trains that travel through the affected area have been altered.
The Howrah-Mumbai Mail mishap that occurred early Tuesday morning in Chaibasa, Jharkhand, at approximately 3:45 AM caused several bogies of the train to derail, prompting ongoing rescue operations. A helpline number has been established to assist the affected passengers. As a result of the accident, the routes of about 16 trains that travel through the affected area have been altered.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) of the Ranchi Railway Division Nishant Kumar confirmed that the derailment of Train No 12810 Howrah-CSTM (Mumbai) Mail in the Chakradharpur division has necessitated these changes. Until the line is cleared and normal operations resume, affected trains will follow the diverted routes.
Passengers are advised to check the updated schedules and route changes before heading to the station.
Route Changes for Upcoming Train Services
- Train No. 13287 Durg–Ara South Bihar Express: Starting from July 30, this train will operate via an alternate route. Instead of its scheduled path, it will now travel through Rourkela, Nuagaon, Muri, Kotshila, Bokaro Steel City, Bhojudih, Jaichandi Pahad, and Asansol.
- Train No. 13288 Ara–Durg South Bihar Express: Beginning July 29, this train will also follow a revised route. It will run via Asansol, Jaichandi Pahad, Bhojudih, Bokaro Steel City, Kotshila, Muri, Nuagaon, and Rourkela, deviating from its originally planned course.
- Train No. 12130 Howrah–Pune Azad Hind Express: Beginning July 29, this train will follow an altered route. Instead of its scheduled path, it will travel via Sini, Kandra, Purulia, Hatia, Nuagaon, and Rourkela.
- Train No. 18005 Howrah-Jagdalpur Samaleswari Express: Starting July 29, this train will operate via a revised route. It will run through Chandil, Muri, Hatia, and Rourkela instead of its originally planned course.
- Train No. 12834 Howrah–Ahmedabad SF Express: From July 29,this train will follow a diverted route, travelling through Chandil, Purulia, Hatia, and Rourkela, deviating from its scheduled route.
- Train No. 18029 Lokmanya Tilak Terminal–Shalimar Express: Effective July 28, this train will run on an alternate route. It will travel via Rourkela, Hatia, Purulia, and Tatanagar instead of its planned route.
- Train No. 12859 Mumbai CSTM–Howrah Express: From July 29, this train will follow a new route, travelling via Rourkela, Hatia, Purulia, and Tatanagar instead of its originally scheduled path.
- Train No. 12833 Ahmedabad–Howrah SF Express: Starting July 28, this train will be rerouted via Rourkela, Hatia, Purulia, and Tatanagar, deviating from its scheduled route.
