The Kolkata Metro’s latest addition, the Dalian Rake MR-513, is now in the midst of its dry run phase, marking a significant step towards its commercial launch. Arriving in June 2024, the new rake, along with its counterpart MR-514, is part of a major upgrade to enhance passenger comfort across the network.

Since its arrival, MR-513 has successfully completed all mandatory tests and is currently undergoing regular dry runs on the Dakshineswar-Kavi Subhash stretch. These dry runs, conducted during non-peak hours, are crucial for assessing the rake’s performance and ensuring it meets all operational parameters in real-time conditions. This testing phase is designed to fine-tune the rake’s systems and ensure a smooth transition to regular service.

Dalian Rakes to Improve Passenger Experience

The Dalian Rakes, known for their advanced features, include doors that are 100 mm wider than those on existing AC rakes, providing easier boarding and alighting. Additionally, the rakes offer increased seating capacity, a more efficient air conditioning system, noise reduction features, and eye-soothing illumination—all aimed at improving the overall passenger experience.

The introduction of these new rakes is part of Kolkata Metro’s ongoing efforts to upgrade its fleet and provide a more comfortable and efficient travel experience for its passengers. As these advanced rakes move closer to regular service, commuters can look forward to a smoother, more enjoyable ride on the Kolkata Metro network.
