Bank holidays in August 2024: The private and public sector banks will remain closed for 13 days. However, the holidays differ across the states.

New Delhi: Banks across the country will remain closed for 13 days including Sundays, second and fourth Saturday, national and regional holidays in August 2024. The Reserve bank of India (RBI) designates holidays for all banks under the Negotiable Instruments Act holidays, the Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) holidays, and the Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

Public and private banks will remain closed in different parts of the country on occasion of Independence Day, Ker Puja, Patriot’s Day, Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi), Tendong Lho Rum Faat, Raksha Bandhan/Jhulana Purnima/birthday of Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi, Janmashtami (Shravan Vad-8)/Krishna Jayanthi.

August 3: Banks will remain closed in Tripura on the occasion of Ker Puja.
August 4: Banks will remain closed as it is a Sunday.
August 8: Banks will remain closed in Sikkim in view of Tendong Lho Rum Faat.
August 10: Second Saturday – Banks will remain closed across the country
August 11: Sunday
August 13: Banks will remain closed in Manipur on the occasion of Patriot’s Day.
August 15: All banks in the country will observe a holiday on the occasion of Independence Day.
August 18: Sunday
August 19: Banks will remain closed in a few states on the occasion of Rakhi/Raksha Bandhan.
August 20: Kerala will celebrate Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi. Banks to remian closed.
August 24: Second Saturday
August 25: Sunday
August 26: Bank holiday in some states on the occasion of Janmashtami.
