96,788 tree saplings planted across State

The weeklong Shiksha Saptah (Education Week) culminated today in Nagaland through the observation of Eco Club for Mission LiFE, community participation and Tithi Bhojan.

Marking the culmination of Shiksha Saptah event, a total of 96,788 tree saplings have been planted across the state by students along with community leaders, teachers and school education department officials.

In the state capital Kohima, officials from the School Education Department and Samagra Shiksha Nagaland graced Tithi Bhojan events by serving food to school children.

At Government Middle School (CwSN), Lerie (Kohima), Thavaseelan K, Principal Director, Directorate of School Education took the lead in serving Midday meal (Tithi Bhojan) to the students. At Government High School, Forest Colony, Kohima, Temsunaro Aier, Commissioner & Secretary IPR and State Mission Director Samagra Shiksha Nagaland led Tithi Bhojan event. Similar event at Government Middle School, Phezoucha, New Secretariat Area Kohima was graced by Kevileno Angami, Commissioner & Secretary School Education & SCERT, Nagaland.

Here, students demonstrated skills in weaving basket, knitting to the delight of the dignitaries. The students also created eco-friendly waste bins with bamboo cane.

In the morning hour, officers of school education department conducted social work in the Directorate of School Education Kohima for cleaning the office premises, plantation of tree and flowers.

Shiksha Saptah was held across of the country to commemorate the 4th anniversary of New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Kelhikha Kenye, Deputy Mission Director Samagra Shiksha Nagaland informed that Shiksha Saptah event in Nagaland witnessed massive participation of schools- private, government and central schools from July 22 to 27 across the state.

Series of events such as Teaching –Learning Material Day, Foundational Literacy & Numeracy Day, Sports Day, Cultural Day, Skilling & Digital Day and Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE, community involvement Day and Tithi Bhojan took place during the period.
