New Delhi: PM Modi on Saturday chaired the 9th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that making India a developed nation by 2047 is a shared dream for every Indian. He said that states play a crucial role in this ambition, as they are directly connected with the people.
“Viksit Bharat @ 2047 is ambition of every Indian. States can play an active role to achieve this aim as they are directly connected with the people,” he said. The Prime Minister said that this decade is marked by technological and geopolitical changes, offering new opportunities. He urged India to seize these opportunities by creating policies that attract international investments, calling it a “stepping stone for progress.”
The meeting, held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Center, aimed to foster collaboration between the central and state governments. It focused on improving the quality of life for both rural and urban populations by enhancing the delivery of government services. The theme was ‘Developed India @2047,’ emphasising the states’ role in achieving this goal. A ‘CM Conclave’ followed the meeting, bringing together Chief Ministers from various states and union territories.
Ministers who attended meeting
The meeting was attended by several key ministers. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were present, highlighting the importance of their states in national development. Arunachal Pradesh was represented by both Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein. Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha, along with Assam’s Himanta Biswa Sarma and Odisha’s Mohan Charan Majhi, also participated. Chhattisgarh was represented by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, and Gujarat by Bhupendra Patel. Rajasthan’s Bhajanlal Sharma, Meghalaya’s Conrad Sangma, and West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee were also in attendance, showing a strong commitment from diverse regions.
Ministers who didn’t attend meeting
However, some chief ministers from opposition-ruled states chose not to attend. This included Tamil Nadu’s MK Stalin and Himachal Pradesh’s Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah and Telangana’s Revanth Reddy were also absent, along with Punjab’s Bhagwant Mann. Kerala was not represented by its Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, nor was Puducherry by N Rangasamy. Jharkhand’s Hemant Soren also did not attend, marking a noticeable absence of leaders from these regions.
