New Delhi: A 22-year-old woman, a model by profession, was allegedly gang-raped by three men in a hotel room under the guise of a modelling assignment in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The victim, who knew one of the accused, Vipin Singh, through Instagram, travelled from Kanpur to Lucknow with the promise of a role in a film.
The victim narrated her ordeal to the police. After meeting Vipin at Matiari Chaurah in Chinhat on August 28th, she was taken to a hotel in a Scorpio with registration UP 32 LT 2801, where she was introduced to a supposed film director.
Victim was threatened with death
However, the situation took an ugly turn as she was taken away by the accused, who allegedly drugged her and subsequently gang-raped her both in the car and the hotel room. The victim alleged that she was threatened with death if she raised an alarm about the assault by men.
Upon regaining consciousness, the victim, finding herself in the hotel room with bruises on her body, managed to escape and report the incident to the police.
Police complaint filed
Based on her complaint, the police have registered a case against Vipin Singh, Inam Singh and Vinay Singh under the relevant sections, including gang rape. Two of the accused have been arrested, while the third suspect remains at large and is being actively hunted by the police.
Police hunting for third accused
DCP East Shashank Singh confirmed the incident, stating that the victim was lured under the pretence of a job opportunity and then subjected to the crime. The investigation is ongoing, with the police determined to apprehend the remaining suspect to deliver justice without delay. The police said that they are conducting raids at different locations to nab the third accused.
