Ashish Kacholia, an X user, had to catch a flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai. He was travelling from HSR layout, roughly 50 km away from the airport. On checking Google Maps, it showed him an hour and 45 minutes. Little did he think, he would be stuck in traffic for 3 long hours.

“Yesterday missed my flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai because journey took 3 hours instead of 1.45 as shown by Google Maps. Deeply grateful to Mumbai administration @mybmc for investing in infrastructure to keep traffic moving in maximum city. Life is relative,” said Kacholia on X.

The post grabbed the attention of netizens. They swiftly talked about Google Maps’ inaccurate predictions. One wrote, “Recently, Google predictions have become quite unreliable. Always ask a local if weather conditions are not good in any part of the city.” A second person opined, “Single-person trips in SUVs, MPVs, or sedans are a huge factor in our city’s traffic jams. People must rethink how to use our roads and encourage carpooling, public transport, and smaller vehicles to ease congestion. Please don’t just keep blaming my city.”

A third individual commented, “We are building a metro to connect from CBD and greater Bengaluru to the airport, And also a proposal and plan sanctioned for underground transportation. Therefore, pls stay put in Bangalore for long-term growth. Btw, there’s a second airport planning underway.”
