Parksite police have registered a case against two people for attacking a cab driver in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area. The case has been registered based on the complaint of the victim driver Kayamuddin Mainuddin Qureshi (24) and CCTV footage. The driver, a resident of Govandi, suffered serious injuries following which he was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital by security personnel but was later admitted to JJ Hospital after seeing the injury marks on his head. Parksite police have sent a notice to car owner Rishabh Chakraborty who attacked the cab driver. No arrest has been made in the case yet. Further investigation is underway.
Giving information about the incident, Mumbai Police said that an FIR has been registered under sections 115,117, 351 (2) and 352 of the BNS (Indian Justice Code). The accused has been identified as Rishabh Chakraborty, who is a journalist by profession. He works in a reputed media organization. Police said that Santosh Ghatekar, senior police officer of Parksite Police Station, said that Rishabh Chakraborty hit the cab with his car near Asalpha village in Ghatkopar, after which the cab driver stopped him and asked him to compensate for the damage caused to his vehicle. But Chakraborty drove away without paying any attention. After this, the cab driver followed Chakraborty to his residence on LBS Marg in Ghatkopar and when Chakraborty stopped his car, the cab driver hit his car lightly, after which the accused slapped the victim driver and threw him on the ground. The statement of journalist Rishabh Chakraborty and his wife has been recorded by the police.
These officials of Parksite police station said, “The incident took place on the night of August 18 at around 11.20 pm when Ola cab driver Qayamuddin Ansari was going towards Ulwe in Navi Mumbai with a passenger. He lodged a complaint of assault on Wednesday. According to the complainant, he was going from Asalpha Metro Rail Station when an Audi car hit his car from behind. “
“When Ansari got down to check if there was any damage to his vehicle, the couple in the Audi car — Rishabh Chakraborty (35) and his wife Antara Ghosh (27) — got down and started abusing him. Ghosh also allegedly pulled out the Ola cab ‘device’ from Ansari’s vehicle and then both of them fled from the spot,” he said, quoting the complaint.

However, business news portal Moneycontrol said that Rishabh Chakraborty is their former employee and he has resigned. The company tweeted from its official X handle, “We are shocked by the violent actions of this person, who has been identified as a former employee of Moneycontrol. Mr. Rishabh Chakraborty has resigned from Moneycontrol and he has not been with us since June this year.”
