Known for its notorious traffic and hours-long vehicle jams, Bengaluru is not an easy place for daily commuters. If you don’t own a vehicle, the cab fares can be a nightmare due to unavailability of public conveyance.

Recently, a social media user shared her experience as a daily commuter and revealed that she pays more than half of her house rent in Uber fare in less than a month.

Notably, it is not unusual for most working individuals to rely on private cabs and aggregators like Ola and Uber for their daily commute.

In a post on X, a user who goes by the name of Vanshita stated that she used a feature from the CRED app to track and calculate her transportation costs. The data further revealed that she had spent more than Rs 16,000 on 74 Uber trips between July 1 and 25.

“I can’t believe my Uber expenses are more than half the amount I pay as rent in Bangalore. For me this got to be the most useful feature by cred till date,” she captioned the post.

Soon after seeing the light of day, the post went viral prompting a flood of reactions in the comments section, with some users suggesting alternative solutions to manage and reduce transportation costs.

“At this point maybe it’s better if you buy yourself a vehicle. Even monthly EMIs would be far less,” suggested one user.

“As someone who pays 700 on one side, I dread looking at this feature. Thankfully I don’t have to travel to the office every day,” another user wrote sharing her experience.

“My god, how do you manage to look at this number? I would think twice before even ordering a cab from Ola/Uber. I get a Rapido bike taxi daily for both ways commute. I don’t have the heart to look at the credit card statement to check the cost,” another commented.
