Orders to vacate the village within 30 days

Patna (Bihar) – The Waqf Board in Bihar has become active after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav strongly opposed the ‘Waqf Board Amendment Bill’. The ‘Bihar State Sunni Waqf Board’ has laid claim over Govindpur village in Fatuha of Patna District. The board has issued an order to vacate the village within 30 days. 95% of the people in this village are Hindus and they are worried about this.

Hindu residents of the village say that this land belongs to them and the Waqf Board’s claim is completely wrong and baseless. Upon investigation ordered by the District Magistrate, it was found that the villagers had ancestral rights over the land and the Waqf Board’s claim was false.

Hindu villagers’ stand

Reportedly, the Waqf Board suddenly claimed the land in Govindpur village as theirs. The board claimed that this land has been in its possession since 1959, while the Hindu villagers living here have completely refuted the claim saying, ‘We have been living here since 1909 and the documents of this land are also in our name’. The villagers said that this year too, the High Court gave a verdict in their favour in the land dispute. Even after that, the Waqf Board is claiming this land. The Waqf Board has not been able to submit any documents regarding the claim on this land.
