The lie-detector test was conducted by the CBI which is investigating the case.

Kolkata: A polygraph test was conducted on Sanjoy Roy, the prime accused in the rape and murder case of a Kolkata doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Sunday, 25 August 2024.

The lie-detector test was conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which is investigating the case.

In the process, a senior CBI official, while talking to the news agency ANI said, “Bahut kuch hai” (There is a lot) when asked about the concrete evidence.

The polygraph test on Sanjay Roy was conducted at Kolkata’s Presidency Jail where he is lodged, officials said on Sunday.

Earlier, during the initial stages, Sanjoy Roy had told a Kolkata Court that he was being “framed”. When the court asked for his approval for the polygraph test, Sanjoy Roy broke down in the court and claimed that he had not “committed a crime”.

“The polygraph test would prove my innocence,” Roy had reportedly said in the court.

A team of polygraph specialists was sent off to Kolkata from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in New Delhi to conduct the test.

Meanwhile, the CBI Anti-Corruption Branch announced on Sunday that they have uncovered substantial evidence in their corruption probe against former RG Kar Medical College principal Sandeep Ghosh.

An FIR was filed against former principal Sandeep Ghosh on Saturday.

The Supreme Court had on Tuesday, August 20 ordered that the security of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) while hearing the suo motu case concerning the rape and murder of the trainee doctor.
