Balasore Police Thwart Highway Dacoity Bid; 6 Arrested, 17 Stolen Bikes Recovered | Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Balasore Town Police foiled a major highway dacoity attempt with the arrest of six individuals in the Patrapara area in the early hours on Saturday.

According to an official press release of Balasore Police, the operation followed a tip-off about a group of armed youths planning a criminal act in an abandoned house at Alua in Patrapara area.

Acting on the tip-off, a team of Balasore Town Police conducted a raid at the abandoned house at around 2.00 AM leading to recovery of 17 stolen motorcycles and scooters of different makes and models; two sharp-edged swords and two homemade bombs.

The suspects, alerted by the police presence, attempted to flee but were successfully apprehended by the police team after a brief chase. The arrested accused persons are previously involved in criminal cases including a murder case.

Later in the day, the stolen bikes were handed over to their respective owners, the press release said.
