This initiative is part of a broader effort by the state government to promote football in Uttar Pradesh.

AIFF President met CM Adityanath to discuss football promotion

All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Kalyan Chaubey recently met with Chief Minister Adityanath in Lucknow.

During their meeting, Chaubey emphasized the need for promoting football in Uttar Pradesh and proposed organizing the derby here.

Recognizing the untapped potential of football in Uttar Pradesh, he suggested hosting this iconic Kolkata Derby in Lucknow as a way to ignite passion for the sport among young people.

Teams to arrive in Lucknow on September 1

Both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal are scheduled to arrive in Lucknow on September 1, marking the beginning of this momentous occasion for football in Uttar Pradesh.

The event aims not only to inspire young athletes but also to boost local football infrastructure and contribute toward the growth of the sport at grassroots level.
