New Delhi: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate their ticketing systems, thereby providing seamless travel facilities to the residents of Delhi-NCR. This collaboration is in line with the ‘One India – One Ticket’ initiative, which will allow passengers to book QR code tickets for both NaMo Bharat and Delhi Metro services on a single platform. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shalabh Goyal, Managing Director, NCRTC and Dr Vikas Kumar, Managing Director, DMRC.

Under this integration, passengers booking Namo Bharat train tickets through RRTS Connect app can also buy Delhi Metro tickets along with it. Similarly, to book metro tickets, NaMo Bharat train tickets can also be availed from DMRC mobile app. With this collaboration, Delhi Metro QR code on RRTS Connect app and NaMo Bharat QR code on DMRC mobile app will be created, which will greatly improve the experience of passengers.

This initiative is in line with the PM National Gati Shakti Master Plan, which envisages seamless integration between various transport modes. RRTS stations are being strategically integrated with existing railway stations, metro stations and bus depots, creating a comprehensive network of transportation. This agreement will eliminate the need to switch between different ticketing apps while transitioning between the NCRTC and the DMRC networks. This initiative promotes rail-based green transport for travel in Delhi-NCR.

The currently operational 42 km RRTS corridor is seamlessly connected to the 393 km DMRC network, providing passengers with a unified and efficient ticketing and travel experience across the NCR. This integration encourages the use of public transport, which is important to increase ridership and ensure the long-term sustainability of these large cost-built projects.

This initiative follows the recent similar agreement between the NCRTC and the IRCTC for NaMo Bharat train ticket booking on the IRCTC platform. With a design speed of 180 km/hr and an operational speed of up to 160 km/hr, the Namo Bharat train reduces travel time in the region by one-third. The target is to operate Namo Bharat train services on the 82 km long RRTS corridor of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut by June 2025, which will enable people to travel between Delhi and Meerut in less than an hour.
