These organizations had announced to organize a bandh on 21 August itself after the decision. The mixed effect of this bandh is being seen in many states like UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh. Talking about UP, the effect of Bharat Bandh is visible in districts like Hathras, Hapur, Agra, but it is ineffective in cities like Kanpur, Prayagraj, Noida, Ghaziabad.

In Bihar, the effect of Bharat Bandh is very high in districts like Darbhanga, Nawada, Jehanabad. At many places, the protesters closed shops and also raised slogans regarding reservation. Here, Congress, RJD and Left parties have supported this bandh. At the same time, LJP-Ram Vilas, a part of NDA, has also supported this bandh. The effect of this bandh is visible in Jharkhand as well, but it is different in different cities. Its effect is less visible in big cities, but the bandh is effective in small towns. Due to the bandh, public transport buses were missing from the roads in Jharkhand and schools are also closed.

An official said that due to the strike, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has also cancelled his visit to Palamu. In many districts including Purnia, Khagaria, Begusarai, Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Buxar, Patna, Samastipur, Aurangabad, Jehanabad, the NH and other roads have been blocked by bandh supporters by burning tyres. At many places, dharnas and speeches are being held by putting up tents on the road itself. The police is on the road to deal with the bandh but there is no news of use of force anywhere except Jehanabad. There is also news of trains being stopped in Motihari and Buxar. The bandh has also affected the market. Private schools are closed as a precaution in many districts. The constable recruitment exam is also going on today, in which there are reports of candidates who have come to participate in it facing problems in reaching the examination centre.

Impact in BJP ruled Odisha too, security beefed up

The impact of the bandh is being seen mixed in the eastern state of Odisha. Rail and road traffic remained partially disrupted in Odisha on Wednesday due to ‘Bharat Bandh’. Police said that government offices, banks, business establishments and educational institutions were functioning normally. Security has been beefed up at the state secretariat, buildings of key departments and other important places in Odisha. Protesters stopped trains in Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur while passenger buses did not run on various routes. Protesters demonstrated at various places and blocked several roads including national highways.

Schools closed in 16 districts of Rajasthan, examinations postponed

The impact of the shutdown is being seen in districts like Bharatpur, Jaipur of Rajasthan. Due to this, internet has been banned in many areas. Apart from this, schools have been closed in 16 districts and the administration is on alert. The administration fears that some unruly elements may incite violence under the guise of this shutdown.
