National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Chairman Priyank Kanungo has raised many important questions about madrasas in Bihar. Priyank Kanungo has also said on his X handle that there is information about teaching Hindu children in these madrasas. Not only this, raising questions on the curriculum of madrasas, Priyank Kanungo has written that the books being taught in the madrasas of Bihar describe non-Islamic people as infidels. On Sunday, Priyank Kanungo wrote on X, ‘Talimul Islam and other similar books are being taught in the madrasas run by government funding in the state of Bihar. In this book, non-Islamic people are described as infidels. There is information about Hindu children also being admitted in these madrasas, but the Bihar government is not giving official information about the number ratio.

On the question of transferring Hindu children from madrasas to schools, Bihar Madrasa Board said that the curriculum of madrasas has been prepared by UNICEF India. This is the height of appeasement being done by UNICEF and Madrasa Board. It is not the job of UNICEF to prepare a fundamentalist curriculum with the money received as donations and grants from governments in the name of protecting children. Misuse of funds in activities other than RTE is a direct violation of the Constitution of India and UNCRC..UN in India should investigate this. UN should also monitor it.

Many books included in the prescribed curriculum are printed in Pakistan. Research is ongoing on their content. Madrasa is not a place for basic education of children in any form. Children should study in school and Hindu children should not be in madrasas at all, the madrasa board should be dissolved.

Bihar Madrasa Board replied

If there is any such report, we should be informed.’
