The Calcutta High Court recently transferred the investigation from the Kolkata Police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Meanwhile, healthcare services across West Bengal were disrupted for the tenth straight day on Sunday as junior doctors at state-run hospitals continued their strike, demanding justice for the deceased doctor.

With outpatient departments (OPDs) at government hospitals closed on Sundays, the patient volume was lower. Senior doctors remained on duty in emergency departments to care for those who came in.

Medical students from various colleges in Kolkata staged a demonstration today. Carrying posters and placards, the students marched through heavy rains and ankle-deep water from College Street to Shyambazar.

They chanted slogans calling for severe punishment for the accused and urged the CBI to expedite its investigation, which was transferred from local police by the Calcutta High Court.
