Delhi-Meerut RRTS news: The launch of Meerut South station tomorrow will mark the first station in Meerut district on the rapid rail corridor. This station will also integrate metro services. The Namo Bharat RRTS corridor will have a total of 13 stations in Meerut. The four of these 13 stations will be designated for rapid rail and nine for the local metro system.

New Delhi: Starting Sunday, trains on Namo Bharat (Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS) corridor will start to offer services from Sahibabad to Meerut South. The will further boost the connectivity between the NCR cities. As per reports, Meerut South RRTS station will be opened for passenger operation tomorrow at 2 pm. With the addition of this 8 km section, a total of 42 km of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor will now be operational, including 9 stations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South in Meerut.

 

To cut travel time to 30 mins

The decision has been taken after acquiring necessary clearances. The new section is addition from Modinagar North to Meerut South. The 8 km section will increase the length of the operational corridor of the rapid rail to 42 km. This is more than half of the planned 80 km Delhi-Meerut corridor, set for completion by mid-2025.

As per an official from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), “Once operational, this section will cut the travel time from Sahibabad to Meerut South to nearly 30 minutes.”

 

First station in Meerut

In addition to this, the NCRTC has also constructed the state’s largest parking facility at the station, which spans 13,000 square meters and has the capacity to accommodate 1,200 vehicles. The rapid rail corridor will significantly benefited the students, office goers, and daily commuters in the region.
