New Delhi: The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has ordered the re-release of the Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination results The result will be released for 69,000 Assistant Teachers. As per this, the Basic Education Department will have to prepare a new selection list within the next three months.

Earlier, the Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination results were announced on June 1, 2020, with a cut-off of 67.11 per cent for General category candidates and 66.73 per cent for Other Backward Caste (OBC) category candidates.

The High Court’s order has put the jobs of thousands of teachers who have been working for the past four years at risk and is going to impact over 60,000 assistant teachers. The new Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination result selection list may lead to many teachers losing their jobs.

The High Court’s order has raised questions about the fairness and transparency of the original recruitment process. The Basic Education Department will now have to re-evaluate the answers and prepare a new merit list.

Allahabad HC directs government to fix teacher recruitment exam results over quota issues

Earlier, on March 14, 2023, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court ordered that the results of the 2019 Assistant Teachers Recruitment Examination (ATRE) in Uttar Pradesh be released again. The court found problems with how the reservation system was applied to the 69,000 teacher positions and instructed the state government to review the list of selected candidates. The court’s instructions included:

  • Releasing the list from June 1, 2020, again within three months after correctly adjusting the reservation quotas.
  • Canceling the additional list of 6,800 teachers issued on January 5, 2022.
  • Ensuring that the reservation does not exceed 50 per cent of the total seats available.
