Hyderabad records heaviest downpour of the season as city gets drenched on Independence day
Due to the heavy downpour, roads in many areas were waterlogged bringing traffic to standstill. A massive traffic jam was seen in Begumpet-Secunderabad route and in other areas.

Hyderabad on Thursday recorded the heaviest downpour of the season as the city got drenched by heavy rain, thunderstorms in Patancheru, Lingampally, Ameenpur, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Kondapur, Miyapur, Kukatpally, Serlingampally, Qutbullapur, Banjara Hills, Abids, Khairatabad, Himayatnagar, Basheerbagh among others.

GHMC Mayor Vijayalakshmi requested citizens to not to come out of their homes unless it is an emergency. She said that the GHMC and DRF teams are on the field while a control room has been set up in GHMC.
Secunderabad records highest rainfall:
Secunderabad recorded the highest rainfall of 74.8 mm followed by Musheerabad which recorded 73 mm, Ramachandrapuram in Sangareddy district recorded 68.5 mm rain followed by Kukatpally, Khiaratabad and Shaikpet, Balanagar.
Loud thundershowers and storms were seen in Bachupally, Mallampet, Beeramguda, Miyapur, Lingampally, Ashok nagar, RC Puram, Ameenpur, Patancheru areas.
An hour of heavy downpour:
After an hour of continuous downpour, rain slowly reduced across many parts of Hyderabad while some parts continued to get scattered, light rain.
Heavy rain also lashed other districts of Telangana including Yadadri, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Medak. Light to moderate rain and light thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speed less than 40 kmph in Adilabad, Kothagudem, Jangaon, Hanmakonda, Komarambheem Asifabad, Vikarabad, India Meteorological Department said.
The weather department also forecasted moderate to heavy rain in Hyderabad, Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Siddipet, Sangareddy.
